Privacy Policy

Who we are

ShadowSnap and ShadowTag are iOS apps published by Splash & Shadow ("we," "us"). ShadowTag lets vendors upload their own files and batch-print price tags and labels. ShadowSnap identifies trading cards with your camera and prices them. This policy explains what both apps do and don't do with your information.

ShadowSnap and card photos

ShadowSnap is the one part of our work that sends anything to us, so here is exactly what happens:

• When you scan a card, the photo travels to our scanning server (scan.splashandshadow.com) so we can identify the card and return its market value and estimated liquidity. That is the photo's only purpose.
• Photos are of trading cards. They are not linked to your name, email, or any account. ShadowSnap has no accounts.
• Card photos, scan results, and your correction taps may be retained on our server to operate the service and improve recognition accuracy over time. We do not use them for advertising or to identify you.
• If your connection drops after a capture, the photo stays queued on your device and is sent to our scanning server when service returns. Nothing is transmitted while you are fully offline.
• Your scan history, stacks, offers, Vault, and everything else ShadowSnap shows you is stored on your device. Deleting the app deletes that local data.
• ShadowSnap uses the camera only while you're scanning, and touches your photo library only when you yourself pick a photo. No location, no contacts.
• Market values, price history, liquidity estimates, and grading information are fetched from our server, including the daily refresh of values for cards in your Vault. Those requests carry an anonymous session identifier that may be retained to operate the service. It is not tied to your identity and is not used for advertising or cross-app tracking.
• When you import or export CSV files for use with other collection apps, those files are created and read on your device and shared only where you choose to send them. We never receive them.
• The export built for AI assistants works the same way: it is created on your device, it holds only the cards you selected together with the market information the app had already fetched for them, and you decide where it goes. We never receive it. Once you hand that file to ChatGPT, Claude, or any other assistant, that service's own privacy policy governs what it does with it.
• When you print price labels, the label goes from your phone straight to your printer over Bluetooth. Nothing about what you print reaches us, and we keep no copy of your labels or your print history.
• The coin flip connects your phone directly to the other person's phone over your local network, using Apple's own nearby-device framework. It carries the call, the stake and the result between those two phones and nothing else. It does not pass through our servers, and we never see that a flip happened.

ShadowTag: everything stays on your device

Everything you put into ShadowTag is processed locally on your iPhone or iPad and is never transmitted to us:

• Files, spreadsheets, and lists you upload
• Product names, prices, and any other content on your tags
• Print layouts, templates, and settings
• Print history

We have no ability to view, retrieve, or recover this content. When you delete a file in the app or delete the app itself, that data is gone from your device and we hold no copy.

When you print, your device sends the print job directly to your printer over your own connection (AirPrint, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth). That data doesn't pass through us.

Affiliate links

ShadowSnap and ShadowTag both link out to the two label printers they can drive, and to the refill tape each one uses. Those links go to Amazon.

We're part of Amazon's affiliate program, which means if you buy something after following one of our links, we may earn a small commission. The price you pay is exactly the same either way. The commission comes out of Amazon's side, not yours.

Two things worth saying plainly:

• We only link to hardware our apps actually support. We're not paid to recommend a particular printer, and the apps work the same whichever one you own, or if you already have one and buy nothing.
• We don't receive any information about what you buy, or whether you bought anything at all. Amazon reports commissions to us as totals, with no customer details attached. Following one of these links opens Amazon in your browser, where Amazon's own privacy notice applies.

Access codes

ShadowSnap unlocks with a free access code. Codes are anonymous: they aren't tied to your name, email, or any account, and we don't use them to build a profile or track individual usage. A code only tells the app whether it should unlock.

ShadowTag no longer needs a code at all. From version 1.3 it opens straight into your inventory.

Diagnostics and crash reports

Our apps contain no analytics or tracking software of our own. We use only Apple's built-in reporting, which we access through App Store Connect.

If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers, Apple may provide us with crash logs and basic technical details such as your device model, operating system version, and app version. Apple also gives us aggregate, anonymized statistics about each app overall, for example total downloads and crash counts. None of it identifies you, and none of it includes the contents of your files, tags, or print jobs.

This data is collected by Apple and is subject to Apple's Privacy Policy. You can turn it off at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.

What we don't collect

Our apps do not collect or request:

• Your name, email address, or phone number
• Payment or financial information
• Contacts or location
• Any advertising or cross-app tracking identifiers

ShadowSnap's scan data is the one thing that reaches our servers, as described above. Nothing else does.

We do not sell or share personal information, and we do not use your data for advertising.

Children

Our apps are business tools intended for adults and aren't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your rights

Because your content stays on your device, you control it directly: delete files in the app, or remove the app to erase everything. That covers everything in ShadowTag, and everything ShadowSnap stores locally.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold, or to object to how it's processed. We hold no personal information that identifies you, so in most cases there's nothing for us to retrieve or delete. To stop sharing diagnostics entirely, turn off Analytics & Improvements in your device settings. To ask us to delete scan data our server holds, email [email protected]. Changes to this policy

If we change how our apps handle information, we'll update this page and revise the date at the top. Significant changes will be noted in the app or its App Store release notes.
